The Prince William County School Board on Sept. 17 authorized the submission of an application to the Virginia Public School Authority (VPSA) for a fall 2025 standalone bond sale in the amount of $105,000,000 to finance capital improvement projects for school purposes.
“ I move that the Prince William County School Board, a, authorize the completion and submission of the application to the Virginia Public School Authority... for the fall 2025 standalone bond sale in the amount of $105,000,000 to finance certain capital improvement projects for school purposes,” board member Ms. Williams said when she moved the resolution.
The motion also authorized the superintendent or her designee to submit documentation required by VPSA, requested that the county board of supervisors authorize the application, and directed the resolution to take effect immediately. Ms. Zagarpur seconded the motion. The transcript records the vote as 6 yes and the motion passed unanimously among members present.
Board member Ms. Wall praised the work behind the reduced amount and cost savings, saying, “I love to see that we look like we are spending less money than we thought we were going to be spending.” The board’s action begins the administrative process to seek VPSA financing; the school division must complete VPSA’s application requirements and obtain any necessary county approvals before a sale would occur.
The transcript does not list project‑level details tied to the $105 million authorization; the motion authorized the application and delegated documentation and coordination responsibilities to the superintendent and county officials. The board’s vote was recorded in the public meeting minutes as unanimous among members present.
