Commission to authorize interlocal agreements allowing Hamilton County to provide building inspection services to Walden, Bridgeside

Resolutions to authorize the county mayor to enter interlocal agreements with the Town of Walden and the City of Bridgeside to provide building inspection services were presented. The Hamilton County Commission on Sept. 24 reviewed two building and economic development committee resolutions authorizing the county mayor to enter interlocal agreements for provision of building inspection services.

Resolution 1025Dash16 would authorize an agreement with the Town of Walden; Resolution 1025Dash17 would authorize an agreement with the City of Bridgeside. County staff said the county already provides inspection services to those municipalities and that the resolutions would formalize the arrangements.

Commissioner Graham asked whether the agreements would create an undue burden on the county inspection department and whether additional staff would be required. A county official replied fees are charged at permit issuance and are set by the commission; those fees pay staff costs. The official said the county performed roughly 20 inspections for Walden last year and described the current impact as not large.

Commissioners did not raise further objections; both items were presented with no recorded vote and are scheduled for formal consideration next week.
