District posts referendum information, schedules voter sessions and absentee options

Superintendent Berg told the board the district has posted referendum information on its website and will send mailings and postcards to property owners in early October, and the district will run three public information sessions before the vote.
Berg listed the district’s upcoming outreach: a first information session that had approximately 30 online attendees (already held), a second session scheduled at North Trail Media Center beginning at 7 p.m., a third session at Bachman (little theater) on Monday, Oct. 6 at 7 p.m., and a final online session on Thursday, Oct. 30. Berg said links and videos will be posted on the district referendum web page.
On voting logistics, Berg said absentee voting has begun and can be done at three places: the district offices at the high school (enter Door 16 via South Parking Lot), and the two Dakota County service centers in Apple Valley and Hastings. Direct balloting on equipment begins Oct. 17 at those same locations. Election day is Nov. 4; Berg said the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website lists actual polling locations and the district will send a postcard to property owners with voting details.
Berg also provided a contact for questions: referendum@farmington.k12.mn.us. He encouraged the public to use the district’s referendum webpage and said the district planned more mailings and an updated measuring-progress page after the referendum period.
