"We currently hold board meetings on the second and the fourth Tuesdays of the month," the superintendent said, noting Wethersfield holds more meetings than some peers.
Board members described meeting frequency as a barrier to participation and a time burden for volunteers and staff. Several members supported the workshop idea—using one meeting for committee-level discussion and the other for action items—arguing it could increase transparency and allow more board members to see committee deliberations. One member cautioned that the board's role is a public meeting of the board, not a meeting for the public, and emphasized understanding roles and responsibilities.
No formal change to the bylaws or schedule was adopted at the meeting; the superintendent recommended a year-long review of workflow and suggested the board consider options and return with a recommended model.
