Council approves two phase-3 trail easements with Northeastern Counseling Center and King's Peak Credit Union

The Roosevelt City Council voted Sept. 16 to approve two phase-3 trail easement agreements for the Cottonwood Creek Trail: one with Northeastern Counseling Center and one with King’s Peak Credit Union.
City staff described the easements as typical 15-foot trail-right-of-way agreements allowing the city to construct and maintain the trail and preventing the landowner from building structures within the easement. Grant reviewed the documents and indicated the city attorney had cleared them for approval.
Council members noted that two other landowners in the phase-3 area have already agreed to easements and that staff plans a spring volunteer service day to clear and prepare the corridor. The council approved each easement by individual motions and voice votes.
Why it matters: The easements are part of a multi-phase trail project that staff said has attracted significant grant funding and volunteer support. Securing property easements is a required step before construction and trail surfacing.
