The City of Perry city council adopted the final millage rate of 5.8336 and approved the city’s fiscal year 2025–26 budget during its Sept. 23 meeting.
City staff said the prior‑year (rolled‑forward) millage of 5.8336 would generate $2,151,266 in gross revenue, with $27,492 allocated to the Community Redevelopment Agency (CRA). Staff described the adopted rate as a 0.25 percent change from the rollback rate (rollback 5.8188) attributable to changes in property values. "The city manager's recommendation to fund our budget is the prior year millage rate of 5.8336," staff said.
Council also approved the final operating budget for Oct. 1, 2025–Sept. 30, 2026, with two noted adjustments: the Boys & Girls Club rent was set at $1 per year and most Boys & Girls Club capital expenditures were removed except an already‑underway kitchen expansion. City staff said utility tax cash carryforward adjustments would offset the rent change, and a police department grant was added to the budget.
Council approved the millage and the budget by roll call after brief discussion and motions from council members.
The council also recessed to act as the City of Perry CRA board and approved the CRA budget for FY2025–26 before reconvening as the city council.
