Yelm council approves sale of two surplus vehicles to fund replacements

YELM, Wash. — The Yelm City Council approved Resolution 662 on Sept. 23 authorizing the city to declare two vehicles surplus and sell them through Enterprise Fleet Services, with proceeds to be applied to recently purchased replacements.
Dean Norton, operations manager for the public services department, told the council the two vehicles have reached the city’s end-of-life thresholds and that Enterprise Fleet Services will handle the sale. Norton said the city has taken delivery of two 2025 Toyota RAV4 hybrid vehicles and that funds from the sale of the surplus vehicles will be applied toward those purchases.
Councilor Wood moved to approve Resolution 662; a second was recorded by council in the meeting record and the motion carried by voice vote. No roll-call tally was provided in the meeting transcript.
Norton said the surplus recommendation had been reviewed by the public services committee and by the city attorney. The resolution directs the city to sell the two identified vehicles and deposit proceeds into the appropriate vehicle-replacement accounts for the new RAV4 hybrids.
The council did not attach any conditions to the sale during the Sept. 23 action. Specific sale dates and sale proceeds were not stated at the meeting.
