The Ione City Council voted on Sept. 2 to appoint Anna Catelli to the Parks & Recreation Commission to fill a vacancy for the term Sept. 2025 through Sept. 2027.
A council member moved to appoint Catelli and another council member seconded the motion; the council then voted in favor and the mayor announced that the motion carried. During the public comment period one resident spoke in support of Catelli, saying she had known Catelli “for years and years and years” and that she would be a “wonderful addition.” No council member requested further discussion, and no opposing public comments were recorded.
Why it matters: The appointment fills a two-year term on a commission that advises the council on park programming, maintenance and events. The commission’s membership will inform future park discussions including implementation of the Howard Park master plan.
Next steps: Catelli’s appointment is effective immediately; the council did not take other action on commissions during the Sept. 2 meeting.
