Keith County commissioners strike delinquent tax records, rescind one resolution and set hearing on Plover Way vacation

The Keith County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 17 approved routine agenda items, removed three delinquent tax records from the roll, rescinded Resolution 2025-72 because of an advertising error, and set a public hearing for an October road-vacation request.

The board voted to approve the day's agenda and the minutes of the prior meeting and then took up payment of claims. Commissioners agreed to remove one invoice (described in the meeting as an “extremely old” hospital invoice) from the claims list and pay the remaining claims. Motion: “I would make a motion that we remove that 1 and pay the remaining claims.” (Motion by Irvin; second by Schroeder.)

Treasurer Rhonda Johnson asked the board to authorize her office to strike three tax items from the roll. Johnson said one item stemmed from a failure to file by the assessor; another item was for property that has not had taxes since 2022; and a third was an accelerated tax matter from 2021–22. The board approved a motion authorizing Johnson to strike the three properties. (Motion by Irvin; second by Anderson.)

The board unanimously rescinded Resolution 2025-72 after staff flagged an advertising/publication error. Commissioners instructed staff to note in the resolution book that the resolution had been rescinded and to republish the corrected document before re-approving it.

Zone administrator Cody Fenwick presented a road-vacation request for Plover Way in the Pelican Roost subdivision and the highway superintendent's feasibility study. The board set a public hearing for Oct. 8, 2025, at 8:30 a.m. in the commissioners' boardroom to consider vacating the portion of Plover Way described in the resolution. The resolution as read identifies the vacation request by metes and bounds beginning at the northeast corner of Lot 7, Pelican Roost 6, and includes the cul-de-sac arc and adjoining lot descriptions.
