The board passed separate resolutions honoring Altamonte Baseball Academy's 8U and 9U district champions and its 12U team as the 2025 Cal Ripken U.S. champions; Lake Mary Little League's 12U softball team for reaching the Little League Softball World Series and finishing third and its 12U baseball team for regional success; and Sanford Babe Ruth League's 8U team as Babe Ruth World Series runner‑up and its 12U team as 2025 Babe Ruth state champions. Each resolution was read by the district commissioner responsible for the team's area and carried unanimously.
Commissioner John Constantine read the Altamonte resolution, noting that the Altamonte Baseball Academy serves more than 1,500 children annually and that its 12U team "earned the crown of the 2025 Cal Ripken World Series U.S. champions," according to the text read into the record. Commissioner Lockhart read the Lake Mary resolution, which recounted the 12U softball team's 16‑3 season and noted it was the first team from Florida in 30 years to reach the Little League Softball World Series. Commissioner Herr read the Sanford resolution, which described the Sanford 8U team's run to the Babe Ruth World Series final, losing 6‑4 to the champion team from Aruba, and the Sanford 12U team's state title.
Each resolution was moved and seconded as read, and the chair called the vote. The board recorded the motions as carried unanimously; no individual roll‑call votes were read into the transcript. The resolutions were adopted as of the Sept. 23 meeting and commission staff arranged photography with the teams and coaches after the votes.
The proclamations release the county for scheduled photo opportunities and formal recognition, and the resolutions note those accomplishments for the official county record.
Seminole County officials said the proclamations aimed to celebrate volunteer coaches, parents and the local programs that support youth sports across the county. The commissioners asked that plaques and the signed resolutions be provided to the teams and their cities.
