GLASGOW, Ky. โ Barren County's parks and recreation department reported a busy fall season, posted August revenue numbers for concessions and registration, and announced it will host a regional tournament sanctioned by the United States Fastpitch Association (USFA) on March 28, 2026.
Parks staff told the court that Jackie Browning Park has seen record attendance since upgrades; the department reported concession sales of $20,391 and registration fees of $23,650 in August for combined revenues of $44,041 that month. The department said the park hosted heavy usage the prior evening with cars lined on both sides of the drive; staff said they are working on traffic coordination during overlapping football and baseball events.
Parks Director (presenter) said the county secured a USFA regional tournament to be hosted at Jackie Browning Park on March 28, 2026; the event is expected to draw teams from Kentucky, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana and nearby states. Kevin Wilson, identified as the local chapter director for USFA, is listed on the USFA website with a writeup highlighting Jackie Browning Park and the county's facilities.
The parks director said the department's fall league had about 450 players and that hosting a regional tournament would be a boost for the park and local economy by attracting out-of-state families.
Ending: Parks staff said they will share more tournament details leading up to the March 2026 event and continue to coordinate traffic and game scheduling for fall programming.
Note: The meeting provided revenue totals for August and an announced tournament date; no new county funding or contractual commitments for the tournament were recorded in the minutes.
