The City of Dothan Board of Commissioners on Sept. 23, 2025, adopted Resolution No. 2025-258 to canvass the results of the Sept. 16 municipal runoff election and formally declare three winners: Philippe Curtsey for associate commissioner, District 2; Bradley Bedwell for associate commissioner, District 3; and Ashley Whitfield Davis for Board of Education member, District 5.
The resolution, read in full at the Sept. 23 adjourned meeting, records vote totals from the runoff and states each winner received a majority of the votes cast. The board declared Philippe Curtsey elected in District 2 with 258 votes to Derek Tiller's 191; Bradley Bedwell elected in District 3 with 398 votes to David Haight's 252; and Ashley Whitfield Davis elected to Board of Education District 5 with 429 votes to J.T. Carroll's 413. Each elected official will serve a four-year term beginning the first Monday in October 2025, the resolution says.
A motion to approve the canvass resolution was made and seconded; the transcript records a voice vote with no roll-call tally given and no recorded opposing votes. Commissioner Dorsey was noted as absent for the meeting. After formally adopting the resolution, commissioners offered congratulations to those elected and then moved to adjourn the session.
The meeting transcript shows the board convened as an adjourned meeting on Sept. 23, 2025, to perform the canvass required by law following the municipal runoff held Sept. 16, 2025. The board's action on Resolution No. 2025-258 completes the formal step of certifying the runoff results; the document recorded in the minutes identifies the winners and the statutory start date for their four-year terms.
No additional motions or items related to the election canvass were recorded in the transcript. The meeting adjourned after the canvass resolution was approved and brief congratulatory remarks.
