Saucon Valley board approves consent and routine items; personnel package sans stipend passes

At its September business meeting the Saucon Valley School District Board of Directors approved a series of routine and committee items by voice vote and took a roll-call vote to table a single personnel stipend.
By voice vote the board approved the meeting agenda, minutes from Sept. 9, the presentation of bills and the treasurer's report. In education, the board approved three items including a first reading of policy 625 (procurement cards), a field trip to New York City and travel for a wrestling tournament.
On personnel, the board read ten items and asked whether any should be considered separately. Members approved items 1 through 10 except item 5 (the curriculum and induction stipend) by voice vote. The board then considered item 5 separately; after debate a motion to table the stipend passed by roll call 5–4 (see separate coverage).
In finance, the board approved three items by voice vote, including a memorandum of understanding with Babbitt's and a contract with New Story School. The board also received a recap of the finance committee meeting of Sept. 10.
Because most approvals passed by unanimous voice vote, no roll-call tallies were recorded for those motions in the public minutes.
