Dr. Hoffman said the administration incorporated board feedback and district safety‑committee input into a revised goals draft. "We did add a goal in there that will focus on reunification procedures," staff member Mister Arvar explained, describing work to clarify how the district would reunify students and families after an evacuation. The administration also said it will pause work on a previously discussed middle‑school schedule change to allow the new Patton principal and staff time to stabilize the schedule before continuing the review.
Policy updates and surveys
Policy staff reviewed several items set for next‑week action or future readings. Dr. Ryder said policy 5.1 (service animals in schools) includes one minor change — an added paragraph under surcharges recommended by PSBA that clarifies event seating surcharges will not be charged for students using service animals. Staff said three administrative guidelines and policies (including updates tied to state academic‑standards changes and school staffing/class‑size updates) will be presented for review or second reading, and that a PACE (Pennsylvania Youth Survey) administration plan will be included among required surveys. The administration noted other new policies are out for first reading, including updates on curriculum observances, updated diabetes management communications for incoming sixth‑grade families and an update to graduation policy language.
Next steps
The board will receive the revised goals and the service‑animals policy for action at the Sept. 15 meeting. Other policies will move through the district’s review/second‑reading first‑reading cycle as noted by administration.
