Students report club growth, new electronic hall-pass system and unified sports recognition

Student representatives and the superintendent highlighted extracurricular growth, changes to hallway management and recognition for unified sports at the Souderton Area School District meeting.
Nadia Cho, a senior at the high school, gave the student representative update and said the high school has "over 80 different clubs" and recently held a club fair that gave students an opportunity to learn about extracurricular offerings. Cho noted that teachers and advisors supported the event and that the district received a $1,000 grant to create a preschool reading corner.
A second student representative, Niharika, reviewed athletic records and upcoming events: the football team was reported as 4–1, field hockey 9–2, boys water polo 7–1 and girls water polo 6–1. She also listed upcoming events including Homecoming on Oct. 18 and the PSATs on Oct. 23.
Superintendent Dr. Gallagher praised the new electronic hall-pass system, saying it had "made considerable amount of changes" and helped reduce hallway traffic and vaping. He also noted the district was recognized by Special Olympics as a champion school for unified sports and that the high school was an early adopter of unified programming in Pennsylvania. The superintendent said the district is piloting added strength-and-conditioning programming for unified athletes and that staff will present at a Special Olympics conference later this year.
Board members and administration framed these items as indicators of student engagement and program growth; the student reports and recognition were included in the meeting's informational section and required no board action.
