The Planning Commission on Sept. 16 tabled an extension and reinstatement request for the Swan’s Apartments project at 826–828 Turner Street after the applicant did not appear at the meeting to explain the request.
Staff told the commission that a previously approved conditional plan had lapsed on June 16, 2025. The applicant had earlier obtained conditional approval for an eight‑story, 105‑unit building and later pursued an eight‑story, 142‑unit mixed‑use building that would consolidate 826 and 828 Turner Street. According to staff, the first project had an LDA in place and the applicant intended to proceed with footers and foundations under that authorization while completing land‑development requirements for the larger second project.
Because the applicant was not present and there was some confusion about the two concurrent project filings and the status of building permits, commissioners agreed to table the item so the applicant could appear and clarify outstanding items. The commission directed staff to follow up with the applicant and carry the item to the next meeting; staff said the administrative burden of another month’s postponement would be minimal and recommended tabling to allow the applicant to appear and explain the preferred path forward.
Chair and commissioners noted they have given similar requests careful consideration in the past and that a short delay for applicant attendance was appropriate. No formal votes on reinstatement or extension were taken at the Sept. 16 meeting.
