Leonardtown outlines busy fall events: Paw Paw crawl, Blessing of the Fleet, scarecrow stroll and more

An LEA representative said the fall Paw Paw crawl will take place Sunday, Sept. 28, with rescue groups and dog‑related vendors around town, and encouraged businesses to highlight pet items or host pet organizations. The town’s schedule includes Blessing of the Fleet on Oct. 4 and an antique tractor parade on Oct. 5. The scarecrow stroll has more than 75 scarecrows signed up so far, and Gingerbread Lane has over 50 cutouts reserved and in various stages of decoration. Town staff also noted a movie night at the end of the month; the movie selected was “How to Train Your Dragon.”
Council members and staff described the Labor Day weekend events and the end‑of‑summer bash as successful. Organizers said many activities rely on local volunteers and sponsorships and that some events take most of an organization’s yearly budget to produce.
No formal action was associated with the event reports; they were presented for council and public information.
