Schenectady County Legislature schedules Oct. 14 public hearing on 2026 budget and CIP

The Schenectady County Legislature on Sept. 30 passed Resolution 140-25 to set a public hearing on the countytentative 2026 program budget and the 20262031 capital improvement program. The vote was 14 in favor, 0 opposed, with one member absent.

The clerk read the meeting notice citing "subdivision 3 of section 2.03 of article 2 of the Administrative Code of the County of Schenectady" before the legislature considered the measure. After the resolution was read, the clerk called the roll for a recorded vote; the result reported by Chair Gary Hughes was "14 aye, 1 absent." The resolution directs that the public hearing be held Oct. 14 in the legislative chambers at the Schenectady County Office Building.

The special meeting convened solely to consider the resolution calling the hearing. No amendments or other formal actions were recorded on Resolution 140-25 at the special meeting. The clerk and chair announced the hearing date for the public record and the special meeting was adjourned.

The Oct. 14 public hearing will be the formal opportunity for residents and stakeholders to comment on the countytentative 2026 program budget and the six-year capital improvement program. Additional committee-level and full-legislature meetings on the tentative budget were discussed later in the evening during the Ways and Means presentation.
