The Regional School District 15 Board of Education on Sept. 8 approved previous meeting minutes and adopted several policy revisions recommended by the Policy and Curriculum Committee. The board also authorized a funding arrangement for a Longmeadow Elementary School playground project, directing a mix of operating funds, a PTO contribution and a capital‑reserve contribution as needed.
The board voted to approve the minutes of the June 23, 2025 special meeting and the Sept. 8, 2025 regular meeting (voice votes recorded in the minutes). The board then approved, on recommendation of the Policy and Curriculum Committee, a set of updated policies including policy 1330 (use of school facilities), 5125 (student records confidentiality), 5125.11 (health/medical records), 513.11.11 (video surveillance conduct), 5145.2 (private student speech and distribution materials) and 5145.12 (search and seizure). Heather Dwyer, chair of the Policy and Curriculum Committee, presented the package and moved the policy approvals; a second was recorded and the motions passed on voice votes.
On facilities and finance, the board discussed replacement of the Longmeadow Elementary playground. The administration described multiple cost estimates and vendor discussions; the board authorized up to $85,000 to be drawn from capital reserves for the project, with priority that the district use operating funds first, the Longmeadow PTO contribution second (the PTO expects to contribute toward upgrades), and capital reserves to fund the balance. The board and administrators recorded some confusion at the meeting about the final vendor quote and the exact split among sources; administration said final vendor pricing and installation quotes were still being finalized and that the district would work to finalize funding details within the board’s authorization.
Board members and administration thanked the Longmeadow PTO for volunteer labor and fundraising in support of the playground. No public comment was offered on the playground at the meeting. The board’s approvals of the minutes and policies were recorded as passed by voice vote; the playground authorization was discussed and the board instructed administration to complete the procurement and funding within the approved ceiling.
The board also announced upcoming committee and board meetings and moved into an executive session on potential real‑estate acquisition related to the feasibility study later in the agenda.
