Planning commission continues Willards Farm subdivision hearing after applicant delays

The Riverton City Planning Commission on Sept. 25 voted unanimously to continue PLC 25-1006, the Willards Farm preliminary subdivision application, to the commission’s next scheduled meeting after staff said the applicant was not ready for a public hearing.
Planning Commission Chair Park opened the public‑hearing item and asked staff for a report. A staff member explained that staff had noticed the application to neighbors for rezones and conditional uses, but the applicant alerted the city “a couple of days ago” that they were not ready to proceed. Because notices had already gone out, staff recommended continuing the item rather than conducting a public hearing that the applicant was not prepared to complete.
Commissioner Park moved to continue PLC 25‑1006 to the next planning commission meeting; Commissioner Matheson seconded. The commission voted unanimously to continue the item.
Because the public hearing was continued, no substantive testimony or staff findings on the application were taken at the Sept. 25 meeting. The continuance preserves the noticing record so neighbors will be able to comment at the rescheduled public hearing.
The action taken was procedural: continuation of the public hearing with no change to the application record. The item will return to a future planning commission meeting where staff will present any updated materials and the commission will hear public comment and deliberate.
