The Village of Villa Park approved an intergovernmental agreement Sept. 8 to facilitate acquisition of interoperable radios for the Villa Park Fire Department and authorized DuComm to execute the agreement on the village’s behalf.
Village Manager Ryan Rivas and trustees said the agreement with the Emergency Telephone System Board (ETSB) of DuPage County will help the village obtain radios that improve fire-ground communications. Manager Rivas recommended authorizing DuComm to represent the village and execute the IGA; Trustee Constatos moved to add explicit language authorizing DuComm to enter into and execute the agreement in consultation with Fire Chief Stapleton. Trustees approved the amendment and the resolution by roll call vote.
The board did not discuss procurement dollar amounts during the meeting; staff said the IGA will facilitate the purchase and that further contract and budget details would be reported through regular channels.
The authorization formalizes DuComm’s role in coordinating the purchase and managing technical interoperability for the fire department’s equipment.
