The Oklahoma City Council granted revocable permits for two community festivals: the Asian Night Market Festival, presented by the Asian District Cultural Association, and Mesta Festa, presented by the Mesta Park Neighborhood Association.
Steve Lee, executive director of the Asian District Cultural Association, described the festival’s growth since 2018 from a single‑evening Military Park event to a two‑night, multi‑block festival with more than 100 vendors, performers from out of state and street closures across the district. Lee told the council the event has attracted what he characterized as “close to 30,000 to 40,000 people over the span of the two nights” and said the Asian District drew large visitor counts in 2024, including a figure Lee cited for first‑time visitors.
Amy Newberry, representing Mesta Park Neighborhood Association, said Mesta Festa will mark its 30th anniversary and include a beverage garden, food trucks, vendors and a children’s vendor area that allows kids to sell their own creations at no charge. Newberry told councilors the event hours are 12 p.m. to 6 p.m., with site setup beginning around 8 a.m. the day of the event and cleanup completed by roughly 8 p.m.
Both revocable‑permit items were approved unanimously by the council.
