The Rogers County Board of County Commissioners authorized the Rogers County Board of Health and Rogers County Health Department to enter an agreement to construct a roughly 7,800-square-foot storage and inventory facility on county-owned property at 2664 North Highway 88 in Claremore.
County health officials told commissioners the building would be adjacent to the health department’s two existing buildings and include improved driveways and signage. The facility is intended as a central storage and inventory hub for materials used in community outreach, building maintenance and emergency response, with the district’s equipment consolidated for more efficient distribution and tracking.
Officials said the project would be designed and built by Hunter and Millard Architects Incorporated and Crossland Construction, using the health department’s existing fund balances and revenue streams; they specifically stated no additional county tax revenue would be required for construction. With board authorization, final design approval and construction would begin as soon as possible; staff estimated completion in approximately 2026.
Commissioners discussed preparedness benefits, with one member noting the county would have been better positioned during the COVID-19 response if the facility had existed. A motion to authorize the requested agreements carried unanimously.
No contract price or final construction schedule was provided in the public remarks; the board’s authorization allows staff to finalize design and move toward contracting with the selected firms.
