Public Works Commission plans October session to weigh task force suggestion to eliminate oversight commission

Chair Lauren Post told the San Francisco Public Works Commission on Sept. 25 that a city Commission Streamlining Task Force has recommended that the Public Works Commission and the Sanitation and Streets Commission be eliminated or restructured, and she invited the commission to provide its own suggestions.

"The task force's final recommendation may rely on whether or not it feels public accountability can be achieved by public works through an alternate reporting and oversight structure," Post said. She said the commission will hold a meeting on Oct. 9 at a less formal location to meet with senior Public Works staff and develop suggestions to submit to the task force.
