New Rochelle Civil Service Commission approves eligible lists, extends select lists to 2026

The New Rochelle Municipal Civil Service Commission on Wednesday approved a set of eligible lists for city positions to remain in effect for one year, extended several existing eligible lists through Nov. 17, 2026, and approved minutes from its June meeting.
The commission approved open and promotional eligible lists — including Director of Housing (open competitive list no. 2682), Housing Assistance Specialist (promotion list no. 2683), Housing Assistance Aide (open competitive list no. 2684), Assistant to the Clerk and Secretary to the Board of Education (open competitive list no. 2685), Senior Office Assistant (open competitive list no. 2686), Senior Office Assistant (bilingual) (open competitive list no. 2687), Senior Typist (open competitive list no. 2688), Secretary to the Assistant (list no. 2691), Junior Civil Engineer (open competitive list no. 2691a), Audio Visual Technician (open competitive list no. 2692) and Painter/Work Informant (open competitive list no. 2692a). All were approved to remain active through Sept. 24, 2026, as presented at the meeting.
The commission also approved extensions for several existing eligible lists. The Assistant Director to the Youth Bureau (open competitive list no. 2650) was extended to Oct. 30, 2026; deputy fire chief (promotion list no. 2621) and fire chief (promotion list no. 2622) were extended to Nov. 17, 2026; and a transportation clerk open competitive list was likewise extended to Nov. 17, 2026 (the transcript did not specify the original list number for the transportation clerk).
The commission approved the minutes of its previous regular meeting, held June 25, 2025. Motions to accept the minutes, approve the eligible lists and approve the extensions were moved, seconded and approved by voice vote during the meeting; the transcript records those approvals but does not name the individual mover or seconder for each motion.
Staff reported the upcoming examination schedule: there were no examinations in September; on Oct. 18 the commission will hold police promotion examinations for lieutenant and captain and a promotion examination for budget analyst. The commission set its next meeting for Oct. 15, 2025, at 3:30 p.m.
The meeting lasted about five minutes and consisted primarily of routine administrative business: approving minutes, adopting eligible lists and setting exam and meeting dates.
