The Board of Examiners in Counseling told the Alabama Joint Sunset Committee on the morning of the hearing that it is now in compliance with the statute requiring representation from each congressional district and that it had no new findings from its recent review. Keith Warren, director for the board, introduced board members and presented the board’s written report.
The board said three members were absent for the hearing but that “for the first time in many years, we are in compliance with our congressional district requirement and the statute,” according to Warren. He said board staff and members had worked closely with the Alabama Counseling Association and that Dr. Nicole Driver was acting as board liaison.
Warren and board members told the committee they found no new issues from questionnaires. They reported one unresolved finding dating to earlier reviews regarding a contract procurement: the board completed an RFP and made a recommendation, but a protest prompted the chief procurement office to return the procurement for specification revisions. The board told the committee the revised RFP closes tomorrow and the board will meet October 6 to review recommendations and proceed with a new selection.
Committee members asked no follow‑up questions at the hearing. Warren said staff had worked “very hard on this report” and that the board was available for questions.
