House agrees to multiple bills, refers others to committees and adjourns until Sept. 29

The House of Representatives convened at 11 a.m. and, after committee reports, the chamber agreed by voice vote to a series of bills and resolutions that were reported as committed, referred several bills to standing committees, and approved an adjournment motion to Sept. 29.

Most of the bills and resolutions presented were reported as committed by committee and were approved on the floor by voice vote. Representative Briggs, chair of the Committee on Judiciary, reported multiple bills and resolutions. The clerk read referrals to committees, including House Bill 1874 to the House Committee on Housing and Community Development, House Bill 1872 to the Committee on Communications and Technology, House Bill 1875 to the Committee on Local Government, and House Bill 321 to the Committee on Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness. The majority leader also moved to move several bills between the active and tabled calendars.

Why it matters: floor agreement on committee-reported bills advances those measures toward further consideration or final passage, while committee referrals and calendar changes determine which measures receive further action and when.
