Board establishes superintendent search timeline, opens public input window in December

The Wayne-Westland Community School District Board of Education on Tuesday confirmed a public timeline for its superintendent search, including multiple community-engagement steps and public finalist events.
Board members said the district has scheduled a special board meeting on Nov. 8 to meet with the search firm and finalize search parameters. The board will collect stakeholder feedback from Dec. 1 through Dec. 15 to help develop a candidate profile and the position announcement. The superintendent position will be posted Jan. 12 and remain open through Feb. 23.
Review of applications will begin the week of Monday, March 2. First-round interviews are set for March 16–18; finalists will be selected March 19. Finalist interviews are scheduled for March 24–25, with a public district tour and community meet-and-greet on March 26. The board plans to select a new superintendent on Monday, April 6, and expects the superintendent to begin July 1.
Board members emphasized the public nature of the finalist events. The speaker noted, “the community is a part of the first round interviews as well as the second round interviews. That is all done publicly.” The board said the search timeline and participation opportunities will be published for community members to see and participate in the process.
