The Tangipahoa Parish Council voted unanimously on Sept. 22 to authorize staff to seek bids for a proposed library community building.
Parish President Miller said the project had previously been an alternate in an earlier bid process but that library officials now believe they have the budget to proceed. "It's the—it was an alternate. Didn't work out during the bid process. Now, libraries figured out they have the budget to build this building, they believe, so we're asking to go out for bid for that building," Miller said.
A council member moved to approve the request; the motion passed on a roll call vote recorded as 10‑0.
No contract award or construction timeline was set during the meeting; the council's vote authorized the parish to solicit bids only.
