Staff said very few septic systems exist inside city limits and properties located within a specified distance of a city sewer main still must connect under existing rules; the county has more expertise on septic systems and will continue to support installations and inspections.
For 510 Kiowa Street, planning staff said the proposal had been heard by the planning commission on Sept. 9, which recommended approval with the condition that the owner apply for rental registration as a two-family dwelling if the ordinance is adopted. Staff noted permit compliance is required for final registration. Commissioners expressed no objection at first consideration and advanced the items.
