City public-works staff described erosion that exposed a sanitary sewer line northwest of the Walmart and behind the industrial park. Staff said monitoring had continued until repair became necessary to avoid a possible break or leak. The commission approved the staff recommendation to award the repair contract to Baker Construction, the qualified low bidder at $81,500.
Staff said the engineer's estimate had been $138,050 and noted Baker Construction has completed prior work for the city. The project will be funded 50% from the sewer fund and 50% from the stormwater fund. Staff told commissioners the contractor is expected to begin no later than Oct. 6 and to finish within 60 calendar days.
The motion to approve the award carried on a unanimous recorded "aye" vote.
