The Pittsburg City Commission on Sept. 23 approved a 10-foot utility easement on city property adjacent to the Best hotel to accommodate replacement and relocation of electrical transformers required by Evergy.
City staff explained the hotel project needs larger transformers that must be set farther from the building, and the easement will extend into a row of parking stalls on the city-owned south lot. Matt (city staff) said the easement will not affect the drive lane into the lot and that contractors will install protections around the equipment. The city also noted sanitary sewer work in the area that requires additional workspace.
A motion to approve the easement was made and seconded; the commission voted by voice and the motion carried.
