County to open public hearing Oct. 1 on Port of Arlington corrective action plan after audit delays

Gilliam County Court reported that the Port of Arlington submitted a corrective action plan to address three years of audit findings the county said are in arrears. County staff said the process is driven by statute: the court will open a public hearing, keep it open while the port completes the corrective actions, and close the hearing once the audit requirements are satisfied.
County officials said they did not have materials to include in the meeting packet but attended the port's recent meeting virtually and confirmed receipt of the corrective action plan. The court said it will open the required public hearing at its first available meeting in October — the Oct. 1 session — and will publish the notice and keep the hearing open until the port completes the auditor-recommended actions for the three outstanding years.
The county also said it maintains a public list tracking districts’ audit status to warn districts about outstanding audit issues. The county did not provide a timetable for completing the corrective actions and said the port is gathering financial documents required by statute.
No vote was required; the court described the administrative next steps and scheduled the public hearing opening for Oct. 1.
