Superintendent reports new College & Career Center and updates on construction projects

Superintendent Dr. Rybarczyk reported several district updates at the Sept. 23 meeting, including the establishment of a College and Career Center and progress on multiple construction projects.
The district has established a College and Career Center, located initially in Tricia Thompson’s classroom and managed with Wendy Lewis, with additional space planned under the auditorium commons. The superintendent said Title IV funds support the center and that donations of backpacks, school supplies and workshop support came from community partners including David’s Drive and Customers Bank.
Construction updates included work at Doe Run Elementary, where metal stud partitions and second‑floor work are underway, and a renovated main entrance at Scott Middle School with new brickwork, concrete walkways and three‑dimensional signage inside the entrance. The superintendent said one final set of steps at the Jeneesian side must await additional engineering because of an unexpected vault beneath the site.
The superintendent also noted Patriots Day observances, college visits scheduled at the high school, and recognized Dr. Jennifer Chrisman, a kindergarten teacher, as a winner in the IBX honor roll campaign; the superintendent said Chrisman received recognition at a Philadelphia Phillies event and an honorary baseball card.
The superintendent reminded the public that applications for the district’s comprehensive planning committee were open and that the district plans open houses and committee meetings in October.
