The Waukesha Plan Commission unanimously approved a final site plan and architectural review on Sept. 24 for a 1,050-square-foot car-wash bay addition at Rostero Kia, 2141 East Moreland Boulevard.
Robin, a city planning staff member, presented the proposal and said staff recommended approval provided that all engineering, fire department and water-utility comments be addressed, an engineering concurrence letter be provided before building permits may be pulled and a landscape bond is posted.
During public comment, Mike Christine, alder for District 1, and other neighbors raised concerns about employee parking spilling onto adjacent streets and vehicles parked on grass. Chad Kemmitz, a professional consultant representing Rostero Kia, said employee parking is signed on-site and that the parcel has ample parking, noting the dealership acquired additional parking when it took over an adjacent lot a few years ago. Kemmitz told the commission he would talk to the manager about cars parked on grass and that staff would re-mark stalls as required by the city.
Commissioners included a condition that the applicant provide staff with confirmation of marked and signed employee parking and that the applicant restore the grass area where cars had been parked. With those conditions, the motion to approve passed unanimously; five commissioners were present and two were absent.
