The Goshen Redevelopment Commission on Sept. 9 voted 5-0 to authorize issuance of a request for proposals for the property at 908 North Sixth Street, a vacant parcel at the northeast corner of Sixth and Weldon where the former geodesic church once stood.
Redevelopment staff said the commission previously discussed that site and indicated a preference for single‑family housing consistent with the neighborhood, though the RFP allows proposers flexibility in designs. Staff noted that sanitary sewer does not currently extend north on Sixth Street and that any developer would be responsible for extending sanitary sewer service, providing on‑site stormwater retention, and constructing sidewalks to city standards. The property’s appraisal established a minimum purchase price of $42,500.
Proposals are due by noon Oct. 14 and will be opened by the commission; if no full‑price offers meet minimum requirements, the RFP would be open an additional 30 days with proposals due Nov. 13. The commission approved issuance of the RFP 5 to 0.
Staff emphasized the RFP’s stated desire for single‑family subdivision consistent with neighborhood lot sizes but said the board may consider other concepts if submitted.
