Board approves three change orders extending Fire Station 3 work after permit delays

Adam Wiesen, speaking for Facilities Director J.D. Boroff, said the change orders extend the contracts by two weeks and three days to a new substantial completion date of Sept. 12, 2025. The extensions were necessary after staff experienced delays in obtaining permits for the new electrical service that was part of the renovation work.
The board approved change order No. 1 for Woods Electric Contracting, Building Associates and Commercial Services. Each motion to approve the respective change order passed on roll-call votes; Caron, Roach and Board President Kyla Cox Deckard voted yes on each.
Wiesen described the approvals as administrative extensions tied to permitting timelines rather than changes to project scope or budget in the meeting record. The board’s action keeps the Fire Station 3 renovation schedule aligned across the multiple prime contractors while staff finish permit processing.
Board members did not request further briefing on additional costs in the meeting record; the staff report presented the change orders as time adjustments tied to permit approval timing.
The board then moved to other agenda items.
