The Anderson City Safety Board ratified a four‑year contract with the local Fraternal Order of Police covering Jan. 1, 2026, through Dec. 31, 2029.
A presenter told the board the contract was ratified by FOP membership by an 88‑to‑3 vote and outlined the compensation schedule the agreement includes: an 8% increase in the first year, 6% in the second year, 6% in the third year and 5.5% in the fourth year. The presenter also described increases to longevity pay: from the current maximum of $5,500 in year one to $9,500; year two to $10,000; year three to $10,500; and year four to $11,000.
"It was ratified by their membership 88 to 3," the presenter said, and asked the safety board to ratify the agreement.
Board members moved and seconded ratification of the contract. The chair and other members recorded affirmative votes and the motion passed.
A board member observed the higher pay figures may help retain officers. The board did not provide additional budgetary breakdowns or source-of-funds detail during the meeting; the presenter said there were a "few other changes" but highlighted that the pay and longevity numbers were the most significant items.
