Move with MADD event permit: The board approved a request from Denise Nibleck of Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to hold the “Move with MADD” walk Saturday beginning at 9 a.m., with an endpoint at the courthouse east side for speakers and a short program. Commissioners approved use of the east side of the courthouse and rolling street controls coordinated with the city.
TIF order / redevelopment allocation area: The commissioners approved a resolution approving an order from the Area Planning Commission that expands a previously declared allocation area (TIF) tied to the Merit planned unit development near State Road 47 and I‑65. Attorney Clutter, representing the redevelopment commission, explained the declaratory resolution, APC order and next steps; the matter will return to the redevelopment commission for a public hearing and potential confirmatory resolution in October.
Community Crossings call for projects: The board authorized execution of funding commitment letters for three local bridge/structure and road projects submitted for the state Community Crossings program. Projects include a small structure replacement on 1000 East (MA 34, construction cost ~ $440,000 with local match $220,000), Bridge 158 on County Road 25 West (estimated construction $800,000 with local match $400,000) and a full‑depth reclamation project on County Road 200 South (reduced request of $380,000 to fit the county’s $1,000,000 request cap). Commissioners moved and approved the three funding‑commitment letters.
Other approvals: The board approved a conceptual phase authorization to enter contract negotiations for a KeyBank conceptual design; approved payroll change forms and performance adjustments for county personnel; and approved claims. The board also approved turning the courthouse green for National 4‑H Week and authorized signage and lighting for that week.
Most votes were taken by voice with motions moved and seconded; meeting minutes will record the official motions and the APC, redevelopment and other administrative records will reflect next steps where applicable.
