Boone County approves placeholder for AV replacement; staff to issue RFP for year-end installation

Boone County approved a placeholder appropriation to begin design and procurement for replacement audiovisual equipment in the county meeting chamber and related spaces.
Sean Hernick of Blue County IT told commissioners the county has begun design work and expects a truncated schedule to finish implementation before year-end. “Our anticipation is not to spend a 100,000,” Hernick said, adding that the figure is an estimate based on prior fees and that the department will seek the best price once it issues a request for proposals.
Commissioners expressed concern about timing because an RFP had not yet been issued and the installation window is compressed. County staff said the likely constraint is installation logistics rather than contract award. The commission opened a public hearing on the additional IT request; no members of the public spoke during the hearing, and commissioners then approved the request by voice vote.
Staff said the design team will be asked to emphasize the tight schedule to potential vendors and that vendors can invoice the county once work is underway as long as there is an invoice, purchase order or contract in place.
