Boone County approves reappropriation to shift road funds for additional preservation work

Boone County commissioners approved a reappropriation request from the county highway department to move funds within the department’s road-preservation accounts to cover additional patching and change-order work.
The request, presented by Nick Park of the highway department, shifts money from a stone-and-gravel materials line into road preservation and moves funds between series to cover extra work on roads that were not originally planned. “There was, 1 of our vendors changed ownership and didn't apply some of the materials correctly to invoices. So we just need to move the money from Stone and Gravel over to Road Preservation,” Park said.
County staff told commissioners the sign-replacement project had received more federal dollars than anticipated and is nearing completion; that change freed local funding to be moved into road-preservation accounts for additional patching. Park said the county’s resurfacing project is nearing completion and the reallocated funds would address additional roads not originally anticipated.
The council amended the agenda earlier in the meeting to allow the reappropriation item to be considered immediately, then approved the reappropriation by voice vote. The motion passed without a roll-call tally recorded in the public minutes.
The county’s highway staff did not supply a full list of specific road segments that will receive the additional patching during the meeting.
