Huron commission approves consent agenda including personnel changes, permits and licenses

The Huron City Commission approved its consent agenda by roll call Tuesday, clearing a set of routine personnel matters, permits, licenses and other noncontroversial items.
Items on the consent agenda included personnel actions (accepting the voluntary retirement of David Lentz, water/sewer maintenance II, effective Oct. 17, 2025; accepting the voluntary resignation of Jerry Dennis, part-time year-round custodian; and posting to fill a water/sewer maintenance uncertified position and a part-time custodian vacancy). It also included a classification change for seasonal employee Matthew Persing from softball maintenance to park maintenance.
Permits and licenses approved included a parade permit for the Parade of Lights on Nov. 28 on Dakota Avenue; a raffle permit requested by the Heron Chamber for the Ringneck Festival in November 2025 at the Huron Event Center; a special on-sale alcoholic beverage license for the Huron Country Club for a wedding on Oct. 4 at the Campus Center; special on-sale licenses for Top Floor Events and the Huron Chamber mixer Nov. 13 at 5 p.m. at MO Federal Credit Union; and setting a Sept. 6, 2025 public hearing to consider an on-off sale malt beverage and South Dakota farm wine license for Tap House LLC doing business as The Veil at 79 Second Street SW.
The commission also approved payment of the bills. Commissioners moved and approved the full consent agenda without separate discussion.
