Board approves budget amendments and engineering contracts; reduces Wooten Co. geotechnical scope

Eric Evans introduced budget amendment number 1, which staff said rolls forward a sheriff’s-office grant balance from the prior fiscal year into the current year. He also described budget amendment number 2 as rolling forward grant funds received in the E-911 fund balance so those amounts may be appropriated and used in the current fiscal year. Evans recommended approval of budget amendments 1 and 2 "as presented." The board moved and seconded the motion and, after a voice vote, the amendments were approved.
Under contracts, staff presented a change order for Wooten Company (change order number 7) that decreases the company’s contract for geotechnical services not needed on a water and sewer district project. Staff also presented a supplemental task under the county’s master services agreement with Smith Gardner Inc., recommending a not-to-exceed amount of $155,000 for current fiscal-year landfill engineering and consulting work. The board moved, seconded and approved those contract items by voice vote.
The meeting concluded after routine announcements and a motion to adjourn, which the board approved by voice vote.
Why it matters: The budget amendments authorize carryforward use of previously awarded grants, allowing the sheriff’s office and E-911 fund projects to proceed with appropriated funds. Approval of the Smith Gardner task order commits the county to a not-to-exceed professional-services amount for landfill operations for the fiscal year; the change order reduces scope and cost for the Wooten Company geotechnical contract.
