Carrie Steiner said Southeastern Avenue, which continues I‑74 in that area, carries approximately 8,000 vehicles per day and has become a collection point for screws and nails in the parking lane. "I've been driving since 1974 and I never had a flat tire until I moved into my home 5 years ago. I've since had 4 flat tires," Steiner told the council, and she submitted photos and a map of the requested extension in advance of the meeting.
Steiner said the current Zone 9 route stops at Southeastern and Emerson Avenues and requested a southeasterly extension that would reach the 5300 block. She thanked Councilor Michael Paul Hart for his assistance in preparing the request.
The request was presented during the budget public hearing; no formal action or vote to change the street‑sweeping schedule was recorded in the meeting transcript.
