Collierville awards culvert replacement at Highway 72 and Sycamore to Wagner General for $77,521

The Collierville Board of Mayor and Aldermen on Sept. 22 approved a contract with Wagner General Inc. to replace a failing culvert at Highway 72 and Sycamore Road for $77,521, staff said.
Deputy town engineer Shane Richardson described visible failures at the site, including a caving access drive that required a steel plate and a void beneath the road surface about 1½ to 2 feet deep. Richardson said nine contractors requested plans and three submitted bids; Wagner General submitted the lowest bid at $77,521 and the contract is a unit-price agreement with substantial completion targeted within 30 days.
Richardson said staff has been coordinating with Pastor Odom of the nearby church and warned that there may be disruption to parking during the work. When asked about schedule, Richardson said the contractor should be able to achieve substantial completion in roughly two to two-and-a-half weeks, weather permitting. The board approved the contract by roll call with all voting members in favor: Aldermen Stamps, Robbins, Hall, Jordan, Marshall and Mayor Frasier.
