Commission awards $32,440 contract to pave Rodeo Arena walkways before winter deadline

Teton County commissioners approved a $32,440 contract with Evans Construction on Sept. 22 to install asphalt at the Rodeo Arena at the fairgrounds, a project county staff said will improve pedestrian access to the grandstands and comply with accessibility goals.
"This contract would put asphalt at the Fairground arena so that as you come in the front gate you're able to access all of the grandstands walking on asphalt," Mark Erwin, director of general services, told the board. Erwin said one limited area near a grandstand may experience occasional truck traffic but staff believe the specified asphalt will support that weight.
Erwin told commissioners the request was somewhat urgent because asphalt production typically stops on Oct. 15; he said the county solicited bids from two or three vendors, conducted a walkthrough and selected the lowest responsive bidder. He reported the project would be covered within the fairgrounds budget.
Commissioner MacKer moved to award and approve the contract; Commissioner Karlman seconded. The motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
