Citizens for a Fair Ferndale to host Oct. 5 candidate forum at the library

At the council’s Sept. 8 meeting, Mary Schusterbauer, speaking for the volunteer group Citizens for a Fair Ferndale, announced the group will host a candidate forum on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 2 p.m. at the Ferndale Public Library.
Schusterbauer said the group is an all‑volunteer nonprofit that supports fair and equal treatment for all residents and that organizers had invited all candidates; she told the council that all candidates had agreed to participate at the time of her announcement. The forum will include candidate questionnaires distributed in advance and posted online, candidate opening and closing remarks, and an audience question period in which attendees can submit written questions on cards.
Schusterbauer said the forum will be moderated by someone who is not a Ferndale resident, to ensure impartiality, and that the event will be recorded for later viewing. She encouraged community participation and said organizers were developing the group’s name and logo.
The announcement was made during the public‑comment portion of the meeting; no city action was required.
