The Florence City Council on Aug. 19 discussed the reappointment of Jeffrey Koenig to the Boone Florence Water Commission; his term expires Oct. 31, 2025 and councilmembers received a copy of his resume in the meeting packet.
Councilmembers speaking during the discussion said Koenig is experienced and detail-oriented and noted his prior service for the city in public services and as a city coordinator. Councilmembers also discussed that Koenig does not live within the Florence city limits but does live within the Florence Fire District; councilmembers said that does not preclude representation on the Boone Florence Water Commission.
Council members reviewed the commission's role: operating, improving and managing sources of water supply for the City of Florence and Boone County Water District; contracting with suppliers for resale; hiring staff or contracting professional services; and prosecuting or defending legal actions as needed. Meeting details provided in the packet note that the Boone Florence Water Commission meets monthly on the third Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. at the commission office in Burlington; Jeff Eagert is listed as general manager.
Councilmembers said they will vote on Koenig's reappointment at the next council meeting.
