Commission approves memorandum with Secretary of State on county election equipment care

Griggs County commissioners voted on Sept. 22 to approve a memorandum of understanding with the North Dakota Secretary of State related to county election equipment.
The memorandum, included in the commissioners’ meeting packet, confirms that the state purchased the county’s election equipment and outlines responsibilities for security, maintenance and consumable media. County staff said the state will pay for equipment maintenance but that the county must pay for media and related consumables.
A commissioner moved and the board seconded and approved a motion to sign the memorandum by voice vote; staff said they will return the signed paperwork to the Secretary of State’s office.
Commissioners did not discuss changes to election procedures; the action was limited to approving and signing the paperwork required by the state for equipment custody and operating arrangements.
