Commissioners voted 3-0 on motions to approve claims, payroll and the treasurer’s monthly report for July, and they approved IT’s monthly report for Aug. 25. The board also approved a motion to appoint Melissa True, identified at the meeting as a lifelong Henry County resident and the CEO of Henry County REMC, to fill a vacancy on the county redevelopment commission following the passing of David Gratner. The appointment passed 3-0.
The board approved signing a settlement-form document associated with the national prescription-opioid litigation; staff said the form relates to a manufacturer group settlement that includes Purdue Pharma and that the county will receive an additional share of opioid funds when the settlement is resolved. Commissioners approved entering the settlement form by unanimous vote.
Treasurer staff reported that county claims through three months were running 18% below expected and that the Humana Medicare renewal was a 3% increase, from $4.32 a month to $4.47 a month, according to the treasurer’s summary. The treasurer also described an insurance endorsement question involving the county’s public-officials and employment-practices policy with Chubb: an adjuster identified the need for a clarification to ensure employment-practices coverage applies to certain jail employees. Staff recommended signing a letter to the insurer to effect the clarification without seeking a coverage reformation that would look back three years; commissioners did not oppose proceeding with the letter and signatures as requested.
